Dean Koontz (pseudonym Leigh Nichols) originally published “The Eyes of Darkness” in 1981. He wrote of Soviet RDNA labs which created bioweapon Gorki-400. Eight years later, he renamed the virus and himself. The Cold War was finally coming to an end, so Dean picked Wuhan to replace Gorki.
