It's time for Americans to steel themselves against this idea that we bear The White Man's Burden as Kipling called it. We cannot save Afghanistan from itself and we shouldn't have tried. Nothing they do to each other is our problem, but we are about to get bombarded with all sorts of condescending and racist assumptions that we're their daddy. This must be rejected.
