A cloudless soft blue sky, a dense woodland of mature spruce, fir and northern hardwoods. The forest floor is carpeted with bright green ferns and golden brown fallen needles. The afternoon sun is shining directly towards us though the canopy, silhouetting most of the trees and casting lengthening dark shadows broken by patches of golden sunlight. The leaves on some of the hardwoods and many of the ferns are catching this golden backlighting.
